today starts the traditional simbang gabi in the philippines. it's a tradition and perhaps only in the philippines. OH HOW I MISSED this.
for years i've been here in dubai, i really really missed the spectacular choral performances, the singing of the latin songs and at times the bizarre backdrops designed by our parish priest back home in dingle.
my special correspondent told me just now, it's 12:30AM here, the mass started 4:50 AM december 16, 2009 because of the part-1 homily before the mass with the good monsignor explaining the meaning of the backdrop. hehehehe. but what was perhaps exciting is the short homily during the mass proper.
at any rate my point is simple. simbang gabi does not simply talk about tradition. it is more than that. it is an utterance. a response of man to God who revealed himself to man.
surely some people think that completing the 9-days novena would yield to a wish-fulfilled. waaaaaht? perhaps! but my experience before it was really true. and, my coming to dubai is really something i could claim to be a wish-fulfilled.
dear not all people are coming to simbang gabi to be one with god. Some people just use this opportunities to be with their GF's or BF's. And this reasons really makes me burst out of madness. especially those people doing the PDA INSIDE mismo the church. S***! it really irritates me. Its okay to be with your GF or BF in the church but leave the PDA after the mass NOT DURING THE MASS!!. Its really unrespectfull. Hay naku!!. Well stop with that topic. My point is simbang gabi should be done in full self purpose, I mean that attend the simbang gabi for the reason that you want to be with god, to lisen to his words of wisdom and all of the things he's done for us. Thats my point. I hope someday people would understand the real meaning of Simbang Gabi cause sometimes some people dont really understands what they are doing. Simbang gabi is not any genie-type edifice that if u complete the simbang gabi whatever you wish shall be fulfilled...Its about the faith, the immense connection between God and his follower... Its about building and strengthening the bond among The Almighty and the mob.. It is about placing God as the centerfold of our dreams. It is about pondering things that we must mend for the betterment of ourselves.. (^^,)
